Livingston County had the highest rate of growth in new home construction in the state from 2000 to 2004, according to estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
With 9,458 new housing units built, the number of homes in the county grew by 16.1 percent.
A News analysis this spring (2005) found that developers were proposing 3,580 more new homes in the county. Those proposals were in some stage of planning. Most of the proposals were in the northern or western parts of the county, while proposals in the southeastern part of the county had slowed.
